Self-Portrait by Francis Bacon

This rare and historically significant work bears a personal inscription by the artist: "To Ron Francis." The authenticity of the inscription has been verified by Deborah Jaffe, a UK-based forensic handwriting expert and certified court witness.

The artwork was acquired through Gummesons Gallery, the oldest fine art institution in Scandinavia, from Rolf of Sandeberg Esq., former publisher of Sweden's largest newspaper Expressen. The transaction was notarized in Sweden. Mr. Sandeberg had purchased the piece in 1974 from Ron Belton, a personal friend of Francis Bacon. Since 2012, the painting has remained in a private collection in Belgium.
